A Little Hometown Newspaper Love ~ Published ~Beloit,Wisconsin Photographer

My hometown newspaper the Beloit Daily News did a nice little blip on the Kindred Spirits Hospice program that ran in today’s paper. Complete with a picture of me looking quite goofy (and very floral)

Check it out here:

Don’t laugh. That’s my “dressy shirt” : – )

Friday Fractured Thought(s) ~ Wisconsin Photographer

- After a session last weekend I got a chance to sit in a Barnes & Nobles and READ. And see all the new books that are out. And drink a Starbucks. And it was QUIET. It was quite nice.  I got home and pulled out a bunch of books from the basement that I haven’t read in awhile. And once I put aside the $100 I probably owe the Beloit Public Library (we’re not terribly good at returning books we take out), I’ll be hitting the library too. I missed reading. It’s nice to make time for it.

- RIP Donald “Duck” Dunn. Not too many chicks my age probably have a “favorite bass player” list. I do. He’s on it. So sad.

- Also RIP Donna Summer. Dude, I feel like this blog, as of late, has been simply a run down of dead celebrities.

- Did anyone happen to see David Jay’s “State of the Union” video this week? I’d link to the hilarity (I think unintentionally hilarious….like, hilariously BAD) but someone…oops!!!…deleted it. Perhaps the response video from my girl Missy MWAC was effective : )  So, here’s Missy’s. It’s better : ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWi9A3kxFko&feature=youtu.be

Remember. Don’t drink the Kool Aid, folks.

- The Simpson’s comes to life! We got our very own Homer right here in Wisconnie. This dude went to an All You Can Eat Fish Fry, and after packing away 12 pieces of fish (and having 9 wrapped up for him), he threw a monster hissy fit because the restaurant wouldn’t serve him MORE. On top of that, the dude has a tab with the restaurant he hasn’t paid. AWESOME. Seriously. Some folks need a better cause to get behind. But I found this a terribly funny news story. Doh!

- Got all signed up for Dave Jackson’s newest advanced lighting/portrait workshop. I am SO excited! There’s open spots for the various dates. Check it out here: http://davidejackson.com/workshops/  I don’t have to say more about how instrumental Mr. Jackson has been in my growth as a photographer and business person. I look forward to seeing what educational nuggets he has for us this time around.

- There really are no words for how funny I think this is. And how far off base the naming of this CD collection is. @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dJoo7Tgjr8U

- We had our Southern WI Photography meeting this week….and I actually convinced my Madison photo pals to make the long, exhaustive trip down to Beloit and hang at my studio. We learned about lighting, I gave a quick white seamless tutorial. It was good stuff. It’s great when a group of photographers can get together and share information. Helps elevate our entire community!

- Beloiters : Stay tuned in the next few days, the Beloit Daily News interviewed me yesterday for an article about the Kindred Spirits Hospice program.

- Busy season has officially arrived and I couldn’t be happier about it. The multi-tasker in me just needs having 100 things on my plate to arrange sometimes. A full datebook makes me smile.

- This week I have a family session, maternity session, 2 Gingers, Vets Roll is leaving AND returning (and I plan to be there for the Homecoming! You should come too!) AND I’m 2nd shooting at OLD WORLD WISCONSIN!!!! This thrills me to no end because shooting at OWW was on my little photo bucket list. I have so many great memories of OWW. So excited to be shooting there with miss Kimberly Neyer

- I am closing out wedding bookings for 2012 with the exception of November and December bookings. If you’re having a Nov. or Dec. wedding, let’s hook it up! Otherwise, I am booked in full for 2012 weddings.

- 2013, however…..completely ready to get some bookings on!

- 2013 SENIORS: Still looking for a few ambassadors to shoot this summer.

This week, got some shots of Molly who is now officially A WALKER!!! We beat the Doctor imposed 18 month timeline…by a hair…but we beat it. She looks completely bizarre because she’s still about the size of a 10-11 month old…but SO proud of my little Mighty Might!
